I was responsible for designing a cart and checkout system for OZON. I handled every design-related task, including marketing, UI, and user flow. In 2020, we worked on a new version of the checkout process, revamping every aspect. We started from scratch and used the Design Sprint methodology to identify the main issues in the checkout process. As a result, we completely overhauled how users input their address and payment details. Additionally, we added many new features to the process, including Android and iOS apps and Mobile and Desktop web applications.
We tracked several key metrics, such as the conversion rate from cart visits to purchases, the median time spent in checkout sessions, the gross merchandise value (GMV), and the number of map events per user, such as pin clicks, address entries, and zooms. Although we experienced a decrease in GMV, we shifted our focus to upgrading our technological stack to a backend-driven system, which allowed us to conduct quick and controlled experiments.
